VK Bhavra challenged the appointment of DGP Gaurav Yadav

Punjab’s senior IPS officer and former DGP VK Bhavra has challenged the continuation of the state’s current acting DGP Gaurav Yadav in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). VK Bhavra is currently posted as the Chairman of Punjab Police Housing Corporation.

After returning from a two-month leave as DGP last year, he was appointed chairman of PPHC and replaced by Gaurav Yadav as acting DGP. Bhavra’s petition will be heard in CAT on Monday.

In the petition filed in the CAT through advocate GS Patwalia, the Union Home Ministry, Punjab government and UPSC have been made liable. In the petition, VK Bhavra has said that the state government did not follow UPSC and other relevant procedures in appointing Gaurav Yadav as DGP after he was removed from the post of DGP.

The petition states that it has been more than a year since the government appointed Gaurav Yadav as DGP, while neither the panel of officials has been sent to UPSC nor Gaurav Yadav on the basis of the panel. has been appointed. VK Bhavra is a 1987 batch IPS officer.

They have also questioned Gaurav Yadav’s seniority as Gaurav Yadav is a 1992 batch IPS officer. The petition states that there are several officers ahead of Gaurav Yadav in the seniority list for the post of DGP.
