Punjab Vigilance is raiding the houses, offices and other places of political leaders. This time former President of Shiromani Committee and former minister Bibi Jagir Kaur has come under the target of vigilance. On Friday, the vigilance team raided Bibi Jagir Kaur’s camp at Begowal and conducted an investigation for two hours and also interrogated Bibi in the case of land grabbing of Nagar Panchayat. Bibi Jagir Kaur’s son-in-law Yuvraj Bhupinder Singh has confessed to the raid.

Allegation of encroachment on land

Bibi Jagir Kaur is also the chief attendant of Sant Prem Singh Murale Dera and after breaking away from the Shiromani Akali Dal three months ago, she formed a separate committee to challenge the Shiromani Committee. A petition has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against Bibi Jagir Kaur, in which she has been accused of occupying the land of Nagar Panchayat Begowal.

Confiscation of laptops, phones and documents

According to sources, the team has seized the laptop, phone and documents related to the land from Bibi’s camp. Sources also say that on Thursday, vigilance summoned the Naib Tehsildar and Patwari of Bhulath along with the relevant documents. The team raided Nagar Panchayat Bhulath about a week ago. DSP Bhulath Bharat Bhushan Saini confirmed the vigilance probe but declined to give further details.

The High Court called for a report within 6 weeks

The Punjab-Haryana High Court has directed the director of the Vigilance Bureau to submit a report within six weeks on August 28, 2023. It has been ordered to investigate the issue of illegal occupation of government lands from all aspects and to take action against the concerned departments apart from the Nagar Panchayat.
