Vigilance Bureau arrested MC clerk on the charge of taking bribe

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau conducted another operation during the ongoing campaign against corruption in the state. Vigilance on Friday arrested Rajesh Kumar, a clerk posted in Municipal Council Kurali of Mohali district, on the charge of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 8000.

The Vigilance spokesperson said that the said officer has been arrested on the complaint of Balkar Singh, a resident of Dasmesh Colony, Kurali. The complainant contacted Vigilance and alleged that the said clerk had asked for Rs 10,000 as a bribe for issuing the required NOC for the registration of his plot, but it was fixed at Rs 8,000.

The spokesman said that the vigilance team laid a trap and arrested the accused officer red-handed on the spot after accepting a bribe of Rs 8000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses.
