In view of the approaching wheat sowing season, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will provide about 2 lakh quintals of certified wheat seeds to the farmers of the state.

Giving information in this regard in a press statement issued here today, Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian said that during the rabi season, farmers will get 50 percent subsidy on the total price of seeds or a maximum subsidy of Rs 1000 per quintal. Certified seeds will be provided. Farmers will have to pay only the remaining amount after deducting the subsidy amount from the price at the time of purchase of wheat seeds.

The Agriculture Minister said that a farmer will be provided with subsidized seeds for a maximum area of ​​5 acres (2 quintals) and the subsidized seeds will be distributed to scheduled castes, small (2.5 acres to 5 acres) and marginal farmers (up to 2.5 acres). ) will be preferred.

The Khuddis issued a stern warning to the concerned officials/employees of the seed agencies as well as the district and block level agriculture officers that no officials/employees involved in manipulation during seed distribution will be spared.

KAP Sinha said that all necessary arrangements have been made by the Agriculture Department to provide subsidized wheat seeds to the farmers. All Govt/Semi Govt seed producing agencies and their authorized dealers will be allowed to sell subsidized certified seeds and will also be registered on the portal. Govt/Semi Govt seed producing agencies or their dealers will upload the bill along with the tag number of the seed bag sold on the portal.
