Vigilance Bureau arrested bribe-taking Patwari and his assistant

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Patwari Gurpreet Singh and his personal assistant Kuldeep Singh posted at Mall Halka Bhullar of Sri Muktsar Sahib district on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 18,000. This Patwari and his PA. has been arrested on the complaint of Gurpal Singh, a resident of village Bhullar.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the complainant Gurpal Singh had filed a complaint with the Sri Muktsar Sahib Unit of the Vigilance Bureau Bathinda Range that the Patwari had transferred the ancestral land to the names of Gurpal Singh (complainant) and his brother after the death of his father. A bribe of Rs 18,000 was demanded for the transfer. The Patwari had asked to hand over the said amount to his personal assistant Kuldeep Singh to get this work done.

The spokesman said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and took a bribe of Rs. 18,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses and arrested both the accused on the spot.

In this regard, the accused Patwari and his PA. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the Police Station Vigilance, Bathinda Range and further investigation of the matter is going on.
