Video: Jharkhand’s mountains are in trouble, more than two dozen hills have disappeared

[ad_1]

More than two dozen hills have disappeared due to illegal mining. Many of the mountains which take crores of years to be built, have been destroyed by the stone mafia in the last two decades. The whole matter pertains to Chhatarpur subdivision area of Palamu district and other areas. Palamu’s Budhibir Pahar, Chothasa Pahar, Karso Pahari, Khorhi, Semra (all Chainpur) Bisunpura, Munkeri, Dhakanathan, Mukna, Ganuthan, Mahuari, Rasitand, Gorho, Salaiya, Hadhi, Lambatar, three hills around Sildag due to illegal mining The existence of many hills like , Hutukdag, Cherayin and many hills of Bardiha area (Chhatarpur and Naudiha block area) are in danger. Many of these hills come under forest area.

The stone mafia, in connivance with corrupt officers and leaders, dug up these mountains and sold them. The excavation of these mountains is going on unabated, flouting the rules and regulations. Countless trees were cut for mining in the mountains. New trees were not planted in place of the cut trees. Many of these mountains are in the forest area. The unfortunate thing is that the forest department deliberately ignoring the illegal mining is giving undeclared help to the stone mafias in destroying the forests and mountains in a way. The mafia is getting the innocent people of the village to break mountains. Among the laborers who are engaged in stone breaking, many are dying due to diseases like silicosis. The interesting thing is that most of the stone quarries which the administrative department says are legitimate, have been acquired on fake reports. Such stone quarries are completely illegal on the ground. Fake gram sabhas were organized to take the lease of such stone mines. Lease was given by wrongly writing the prescribed distance of agricultural land, Dev Sthal, State or National Highway, water reservoir, population, school, cremation ground etc. When the time comes, the administrative department tries its best to make these stone quarries legal, so that the real face of the administration and its officials does not come out.

Famous social workers Jawahar Mehta, Ambika Singh etc. say that even today more than half of Jharkhand’s alleged legal stone quarries will be found completely illegal if there is an unbiased ground investigation. The mining people first dug the mountain and mixed it with the ground and now they are digging the ground and mixing it with the underworld. People from all walks of life are involved in the business of illegal mining. From politicians, police and administrative departments to many bureaucrats, many even have stakes in the mines and crushers of their loved ones or family members or relatives. Those who don’t have it, they have a fixed month.
