A spokesperson of the anti-terror agency NIA said that the house of Uzair Azhar Bhat, a suspected member of the Kerala module of the Islamic State, was raided in the Karfali Mohalla area of Srinagar. Islamic State is also known as ISIS.
Mohammad Amin alias Abu Yahya used to propagate Jihadi ideologies
In the year 2021, NIA started investigation against Mohammad Amin alias Abu Yahya, a resident of Kadanmanna, Kerala, who was operating several channels promoting Islamic State on various social media platforms. Through these channels, he was propagating the violent jihadist ideologies of ISIS and recruiting new members into the ISIS module, the spokesperson said. He and his companions had also identified some persons who were to be murdered.
Mohammad Amin alias Abu Yahya had plans to go to Jammu and Kashmir
The NIA said that Mohammad Amin alias Abu Yahya had also planned to go to Jammu and Kashmir to indulge in terrorist activities and raised funds from various sources for this trip. The spokesman said, during the investigation, it was found that Amin was in touch with Deepthi Marla from Kerala, who had converted to Islam. She was married to Anas Abdul Rehman of Mangalore. In 2015, she went to Dubai to study, where she met Miza Siddiqui and both women developed an affinity for ISIS.
Bhat suspected of being part of the conspiracy
The official said that in 2019, she tried to perform ‘Hijra’ in Khorasan (Afghanistan) and reached Tehran, Iran. After reaching Tehran, he could not contact the ISIS members present in Khorasan. They both returned to India, the agency said, and Marla planned to migrate to ISIS-controlled territory by contacting Amin, Obaid Hamid Matta, Madesh Shankar alias Abdullah and others. The spokesperson said, in January 2020, she went to Srinagar to meet Matta to plan for Hijra and stayed in Srinagar for a week. Bhat was one of the persons Marla and Matta usually contacted, he said. Bhat is suspected to be part of the conspiracy.
