Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has been continuously visiting the flood-affected areas and holding meetings with the Deputy Commissioner and district officials, and is telling about the instructions issued by the Chief Minister. The Punjab government is working diligently to prevent dengue and diseases spread by dirty water.
Keeping in view the health of the people, the health department teams are actively working in the flood affected areas. At present, 444 Rapid Response Teams are operational while the number of medical camps is 208. There are 5543 OPDs in a day. The animal husbandry department has also accelerated the vaccination campaign. On July 23, 1920 animals have been vaccinated where 1606 animals that fell ill due to floods have been treated.
On the other hand, on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, 27286 flood affected people have been taken to safe places. A total of 171 relief camps are running in the state in which 1867 people are living. Currently, the maximum number of 38 relief camps are in Jalandhar district. The spokesperson said that 19 districts are under flood while 1469 villages are affected. According to the report received by the revenue department from different districts, a total of 41 people have died while 19 people have been injured due to floods in the state.
He further informed that dry food packets are being continuously distributed in the flood affected areas. According to the information received from different districts, 357 houses have been completely or heavily damaged due to flood while 741 houses have been partially damaged.
