In a separate incident, two bus passengers, identified as Ameer Sohail and Mudassar Ali, were tragically killed in a landslide on Bhangrun Thathri-Gandoh village road in Doda. Another passenger sustained injuries and was rescued. Bhadarwah SP Vinod Sharma has confirmed the incident.

In another incident, a man identified as Muhammad Kazim died after being crushed by a rolling stone near Pandras village on the Leh-Srinagar National Highway in Kargil district of Ladakh. Several high altitude areas of Ladakh also received unseasonal snowfall in Zanskar in Rangdam, Pensi La and Kargil while towns received heavy rain.

Besides, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Kathua, Samba and other low water areas of Jammu region for the next 24 hours. According to officials, operations are underway to restore traffic on the main Leh-Kargil highway after the landslides.
4 to 5 inches of snow – Jamyang Sering Namgyal
Along with this, BJP MP from Ladakh Jamyang Sering Namgyal has shared a video of snowfall on Twitter. Also, he wrote, ‘On Sunday, July 9, 2023, a new layer of snow was fortunate enough to lay down in the higher reaches of the Leh and Kargil districts of the Union Territory of Ladakh. Especially in Rangdum area of Kargil district, 4 to 5 inches of fresh snowfall has been received.
Meanwhile, the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) rescued 40 people stranded in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district due to heavy rains in the region.
