30,000 crore will be invested
A UK company is planning to set up a semiconductor plant in Odisha’s Ganjam district, for which an investment of Rs 30,000 crore will be made in the first phase. UK-based SRAM & Technologies and its Bharti arm Projects India Pvt Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government on March 26 to set up a semiconductor plant in the state.
500 to 800 acres of land is required
After visiting some places near Chhatarpur in the district, the officials of the Indian company held a meeting with the district administration on Thursday. Projects India Private Limited Chairman Guru Kumaran Swamy and Ganjam District Magistrate Divya Jyoti were present in the meeting. The company needs about 500 to 800 acres of land to set up the plant.
5000 people will get employment
Let us tell you that the company has set a target of 2 years to set up a semiconductor plant. Along with this, a plan is being made to expand this project in phases till the year 2027. About 5000 people can get direct employment through this plant. With the establishment of this plant in the state, the problem of employment will also be solved.
What products will be produced?
Many products including mobile phones, laptops, ATMs, air conditioners will be manufactured in this semiconductor plant. This is the second best news from India in the semiconductor sector. Earlier, the US-based Micron Company had also decided to expand its semiconductor plant in Gujarat.
