Tomato Price in Chandigarh: In Chandigarh, tomatoes have once again been hit by inflation. The price of tomato is increasing rapidly in the market. Recently, the price of tomato in Himachal and Punjab had gone up to Rs 350 per kg due to road closures and crop damage during the rainy season. A decrease in the price was recorded when the situation returned to normal.

The wholesale sale of tomato in the vegetable market of Sector-26 of Chandigarh was Rs 200 per kg. Along with this, the people of the sectors bought tomatoes at the rate of 240 rupees per kg.

The vegetable agent of the market said that on Wednesday, tomatoes were sold at the rate of Rs 150 per kg in the wholesale sale. The rate has increased by Rs 50 per kg in just one day. This has a major impact on the retail market. Retailers are selling tomatoes at Rs 220-240 per kg in the sector and also in the market.

On the other hand, the retailer says that if a crate of tomatoes is bought for Rs 5000, it will have to be sold at Rs 250 per kg in retail. Selling at a lower price will result in a loss. That is why many vegetable vendors are not selling tomatoes at all.

Tomatoes had gone up to Rs 80 per kg but now the inflation has again started eroding the kitchen budget. Market agents say that there will be no slowdown in tomato prices until fresh consignments of tomatoes start arriving from Nashik.
