Amritsar police has arrested a minor resident of here with 15 kg of heroin and drug money of 8.40 lakhs. This information has been given by DGP Gaurav Yadav. The police have also recovered a motorcycle from him. Earlier, the police arrested a drug smuggler along with 5 kg of heroin and drug money worth 12.15 lakhs during a check in Thattha Lopoke village and busted a cross-border smuggling gang.
According to the DGP, in the present case, the Counter Intelligence (CI) team had set up a block on Ram Tirth Road during which the minor was arrested. He along with one of his accomplices was going to deliver the drugs after taking the drugs from the area of village Kakkar. The police have identified his second partner as Resham Singh, a resident of village Khasa.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that this consignment of drugs was dropped by Pakistani smugglers through a drone. He told that Resham Singh had escaped from the spot. AIG of Counter Intelligence Amarjit Singh Bajwa said that the father and grandfather of the arrested minor are already serving time under the NDPS Act. He said that an attempt is being made to find out who sent this consignment across the border and to whom the accused were going to give this consignment. NDPS against the arrested minor.
