The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next four days in Punjab

In Punjab, the flood water is gradually receding, but still around 115 villages in 14 districts are under the grip of floods. Maximum 60 villages belong to Jalandhar district. Apart from this, 16 villages of Sangrur, 15 villages of Ferozepur and 10 villages of Fazilka, about 15 villages of other districts have not recovered from the flood.

According to the report received by the government from the revenue department, 29 people have died so far due to rain and floods, while three are missing. More than 25000 people have been shifted to safe places while more than 3300 people are staying in various relief camps. Meanwhile, a youth in Ferozepur and another in Patiala died due to drowning on Saturday.

A young man fell into the river due to his foot slipping in the flow of water on the bridge built on the Sutlej towards the village of Naub Behram Sher Singh Wala in Ferozepur. When the young man was trying to save himself, people standing outside were making a video of him.

The deceased has been identified as Jagdish Singh. On the other hand, a 16-year-old boy slipped and fell into the river and died due to drowning. His friend present at the spot tried to save him but could not succeed. Two hours later, the body of the youth was recovered.

On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next four days. Light to heavy rain is expected in all other districts except Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga and Bathinda. Light rain on Sunday and heavy rain from Monday has been warned. The department has asked people to be careful.
