Punjab CM warnig to Central Government for RDF: The second day of the special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha has begun. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann answered the questions raised at the meeting convened by Governor Banwarilal Purohit. Also, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has given an ultimatum to the central government to release Rural Development Fund (RDF) by July 1. Along with this, the Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925 Amendment Bill was also introduced.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the governor says what is the need to call the session. Nothing but writing letters to them. He is said not to reply to letters. These are letters, some of them have been answered. Some take time. At the same time, the RDF is related to this session. It is the duty of the Governor to go and speak in favor of Punjab. But governors do the opposite.

Along with this, the Chief Minister has given an ultimatum to the central government to release RDF funds by July 1. After this, the state government will go to the Supreme Court against the Centre. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also passed the Punjab Police Amendment Bill.

State Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Khudian said that the Punjab government’s RDF fund is owed to the central government. Due to this, the rural development work of Punjab has come to a standstill. He proposed to approach the central government to release RDF funds of Rs 3622 crore. He said that the Punjab government has not received this fund for the last 4 seasons.

On the issue of RDF, AAP got the support of Akali Dal

Akali MLA Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi said that the central government should not play politics about the RDF. The amount should be released as soon as possible. He said that in the elections of other states, we are spending crores of rupees on advertisements, which is wrong. He said that MLAs should have funds. When MLAs visit the area, they also give grants somewhere. He said that the government should take steps towards change. He said that he is with the government in this matter.

Jagroop Singh Gill said that stopping the RDF is wrong. 70 percent of the people of Punjab live in villages. In such a case, this fund is very important. He said that the standard of living of rural people is to be raised with this fund. The Center has tried to fail the Punjab government but the state government is giving funds at its own level. In 2004-2005, the government went to the High Court for funds. Meanwhile, the court had ordered that the Center cannot withhold the funds as the funds are with the Parliament. He said that all parties should have been united in this matter.
