The Indian hockey team won the Junior Asia Cup title for the fourth time by defeating Pakistan

The Indian junior hockey team continued its dominance by defeating Pakistan 2-1 to win the Asia Cup title for the fourth time. Angadbir Singh scored in the 13th minute, Arijit Singh in the 20th minute. The only goal by Pakistan was scored by Abdul Bashrat in the 37th minute. The Indian team, which performed well in this tournament, has also qualified for the International Hockey Federation Men’s Junior World Cup to be held in Malaysia.

Earlier, India had won the Junior Asia Cup Hockey title in 2004, 2008 and 2015. Pakistan has won this tournament thrice.

Angadbir scored the first goal by sending the ball to the goal post on Arijit’s shot. Arijit made the lead 2-0. After the interval, Pakistan succeeded in scoring. In the last quarter, Pakistan tried hard to equalize but the Indian defense stood firm. Indian captain Uttam Singh was selected man of the match.

Captain Uttam Singh said that the match against Pakistan was a draw in the league match. This time the team was aware that they had not played a match in front of so many spectators. It was beneficial to score early.

For this reason, the Executive Board of Hockey India has announced to give Rs 2 lakh each to the team players and Rs 1 lakh each to the support staff.
