A total of more than 600 flying squad teams from the state as well as the center are on the ground to keep an eye on Punjab after the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT). Despite this, 1,150 incidents of stubble burning were recorded in Punjab on Thursday. Due to which the total number of stubble burning in this season has reached 33,082.

The air quality (AQI) is being recorded in the ‘very poor’ and ‘poor’ category in several parts of the neighboring states of Haryana and Punjab. Many farmers in Punjab continued to set fire to paddy stubble, ignoring the state government’s appeal and warning of legal action against them.

Of the 1,150 farm fire incidents reported on Friday, Moga had the highest number of 225 cases. After this, 117 cases have been reported in Barnala, 114 in Ferozepur, 110 in Sangrur, 109 in Bathinda and 101 in Faridkot. On this day in 2021 and 2022 there was fire in 523 and 966 fields respectively.
