Bureau report : Punjab’s famous lyricist and ghajal singer Harjinder Singh Bal passed away on Friday. He took his final rites at PGI, Chandigarh. Before this, he had his treatment abroad and in a private hospital in Jalandhar. He was referred to PGI after his critical condition.
Harjinder Singh Bal gave many Punjabi songs which are still on people’s tongues. The songs written by him have been sung by many singers including famous Punjabi singer Sardul Sikandar, Hansraj Hans, Firoz Khan, Master Salim.
Harjinder Bal’s song ‘Jab Ho Gayi Meri Doli Akhian toi Ohle… Pichho Rowegi Dekh Meri Gudyan Patole’, sung by famous singer Sardul Sikandar in his own voice, is heard even today at weddings.
Punjabi industry expressed grief
Artists, songwriters, singers, writers of Punjabi film and music industry have expressed grief over the demise of Harjinder Singh Bal. They say that the departure of Harjinder Singh Bal has caused a great loss to the Punjabi music industry. No one can replace them.
