Jalandhar By-Election: Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab, Sibin C, reviewed the arrangements and preparations made by the civil and police administration regarding the general election of the Lok Sabha constituency to be held on May 10 through video conference. Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Jaspreet Singh Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal and SSP. Participating in the meeting through video conference with (Rural) Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar and other officials, he said that adequate arrangements have been made to conduct the by-elections in a peaceful and transparent manner.

He briefed the Chief Electoral Officer about the ideal election protocol, polling staff, distribution of voter slips, webcasting, transportation and communication plan and EVM strong rooms.

Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal and SSP Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar informed that about 98 percent of licensed weapons have been deposited in the district. Giving information about the deployment of security forces, he said that a suitable deployment plan has been prepared to conduct the civil elections peacefully and no effort will be spared to conduct the elections peacefully.

Giving information, Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh said that all preparations and arrangements are being finalized by the district administration regarding the Jimani elections. He said that adequate arrangements have been put in place for the smooth conduct of voting at all the 1972 polling booths. He said that about 98 percent voter slips have been distributed. He said that webcasting will be done at all the polling stations to monitor the entire process on the polling day, for which apart from setting up a special control room, nodal officers have been deployed at the district and assembly levels.

He said that for the transportation of EVMs, a total of 703 vehicles are equipped with GPS. are equipped with the system. He said that along with other necessary arrangements including ramps, wheelchairs to assist the disabled and elderly voters, besides deputing election friends, Anganwadi, Asha and multipurpose health workers will also be deployed for bio waste management at all the 1972 polling stations. He said that training has also been provided to the staff related to the elections so that they already have information about the election process.

It may be mentioned that voting will be held on May 10 from 8 am to 6 pm and counting will be done on May 13. On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (c) Major Amit Mahajan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Varinderpal Singh Bajwa, all Assistant Returning Officers etc. were also present.
