Ministerโ€™s Flying Squad: Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that two drivers who stole diesel from government buses have been caught red-handed by the Minister’s Flying Squad, formed to prevent corrupt activities from the department, while a conductor has been arrested on the charge of taking money from passengers and not giving tickets. Apart from this, three private buses have been challaned and one bus has been impounded.

The Cabinet Minister said that the Minister’s Flying Squad conducted a raid at Sirhind at around 10:15 last night and caught the driver Sukhveer Singh red-handed while stealing diesel from bus number PB-65AT 0542 of Panbus Depot Chandigarh. 22 liters of diesel recovered from him was seized on the spot. Similarly, Gagandeep Singh, the driver who stole oil from bus number PB-02-EH 3066 of Panbus Depot Amritsar Sahib-2 at around 1:30 pm at Rajpura, has been arrested. 20 liters of stolen diesel has been recovered from him.

Apart from this, the flying squad has reported Karamjit Singh, the conductor of bus number PB-10GX 8526 of Ludhiana depot, on the charge of cheating the passengers during the checking at Kupp. The conductor took 180 rupees from the passengers and did not give them tickets.

Minister’s Flying Squad has also challaned private buses running without necessary documents, tax and insurance during checking at Ludhiana Bus Stand. During this campaign, JR. Coach Bus No. PB-10 HF. 0345 was challaned for running without tax, insurance and pollution certificate while another bus number PB-10 HH 6034 of the same company was seized for running without documents. Similarly, bus number PB-29X 7866 of Malwa Highways Moga has been challaned for running without insurance and bus number PB-04AC-3066 of Malwa Roadways Giddarbaha without pollution certificate.

The flying squad has also reported six buses plying on unauthorized routes. During checking at Utcha village, Patti Depot Bus No. PB-02-EG 4389, while checking at Gurdaspur, Amritsar-1 Depot Bus No. PB-02-EH 2672 and Jalandhar-1 Depot Bus No. PB-08-CX 6984, Patti Depot Bus No. PB-02-EG 9438 during checking at Phagwara. Bus No. PB-02-DR 2798 of Na Taran Depot and Bus No. PB-46-M 8995 of Patti Depot were found plying on unauthorized route during checking at Kartarpur. A security guard has been found absent from duty during a raid at Sirhind.

Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar has instructed the officials of the department to immediately take appropriate departmental action against the reported employees.
