Ranchi, Sunil Chowdhary:

The state cabinet has postponed the World Trade Center under construction in Ranchi. A proposal was made with the cabinet to approve Rs 44.22 crore for the construction of the World Trade Center under the state plan. On this, the cabinet has given the intention to postpone. After this, the sensor constructing the World Trade Center in the Core Capital Area located at HEC has been verbally instructed to stop the work for the time being. With this, the construction of the World Trade Center is now in limbo. Chief Minister Hemant Soren had laid its foundation stone on 29 July 2022 during the monsoon session itself.

The state government had decided to make from its own funds:

The Government of India had approved the plan in 2019 to build the World Trade Center in Ranchi. Rs 44.60 crore is to be spent on the proposed World Trade Center on 3.45 acres. G+5 building is to be constructed there. In 2019, the Government of India allocated Rs 9.80 crore as the first installment of the grant to Jharkhand, but after that there was a situation of lockdown for two years due to the fear of Kovid infection.

The process of building the World Trade Center could not be started due to other reasons as well. After the possibility of corona infection reduced, the government started working rapidly towards preparing the World Trade Center. The tender for the work has been finalised. On 29 July 2022, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of its construction. After a month, the central government announced the decision to cancel the project citing delay in starting it.
