The Australian court pronounced the sentence

The Supreme Court of South Australia has sentenced Tariqjot Singh, a young man of Punjabi origin, to 22 years and 10 months in prison for the murder of his girlfriend Jasmine Kaur. Tariqjot Singh will be eligible for first parole in the year 2044 as per the court orders. Also, he will have to leave Australia after the completion of the sentence.

Accused Tariqjot Singh is the eldest son of a farming family from Balala village in Samrala Sub-division of Punjab. He kidnapped his girlfriend Jasmine Kaur on 5th March 2021. He was then placed in the trunk of a car and buried alive in a grave in the Flinders Ranges of South Australia, about 650 km away.

Tariqjot Singh settled in Adelaide, Australia in 2016. There he met Jasmine Kaur of Indian origin. After some time both broke up. But Tariqjot could not bear it. On this, Tariqjot Singh cut Jasmine’s throat and buried her in the grave. But Jasmine did not die immediately as she was wounded and pressed into the grave.

Jasmine’s painful death
According to media reports, public prosecutor Carmen Meto told the court that Jasmine Kaur’s death was painful. Along with this, Tariqjot Singh, the accused in the case, had confessed his crime.
