Punjab State Gatka Championship: The 3-day 8th Punjab State Gatka Championship started by the Punjab Gatka Association under the leadership of Gatka Federation of India at Gurdwara Ishar Prakash Ratwara Sahib in New Chandigarh. On this occasion, President of Punjab Gatka Association, Dr. Rajinder Singh Sohal welcomed the chief guests.

This championship was inaugurated by Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hare and Ratwara Sahib Trust Chairman Baba Lakhveer Singh. Punjab Warehouse Chairman Gurdev Singh Lakhana was also present on this occasion.

Around 800 players will participate in this three-day championship in boys and girls under 14, 17, 19, 22, 25 and under 28 competitions. A 40-member team has been formed by the association to conduct these competitions smoothly. This time the championship will be TSR. It will be done with the system and the result will be displayed on the big LED screens.

In his address on this occasion, Sports Minister Meet Hare praised this valuable initiative conducted by the Punjab Gatka Association and said that it is a valuable effort to connect the future with the golden history. He said that in Gatka Khelo, Punjab won the most medals in India. He expressed confidence that Gatka will take Punjab to great heights in the upcoming National Games as well. He shared the information that the new sports policy will be implemented in Punjab soon. Along with this, he announced that the Punjab Gatka Association will soon be provided with a big ground and other sports facilities in Punjab.

In his address, Chairman of Ratwara Sahib Trust, Baba Lakhveer Singh ji gave his blessings and said that this place is always present for such a holy work. Addressing all the children from Punjab, he said that those nations are destroyed which forget their heritage. But today it is a matter of happiness that a large number of Khalsa children have once again come to this land to play Gatka. These children are always attached to the words of their Guru. He said that Shastra-Vidya has always proved helpful in keeping children away from drugs.

Earlier, the President of Punjab Gatka Association, Dr. Rajinder Singh Sohal encouraged the children and encouraged them to play hard and said that Gatka is a precious gift of our Gurus. Gatka not only helps in keeping children away from drugs and connecting them with Bani but also helps in keeping sportsmen disciplined.

Meanwhile, Gatka Federation of India President Harcharan Singh Bhullar IPS thanked Sports Minister Meet Hare and Baba Lakhveer Singh. Meanwhile, the association expressed special thanks to MD Verka Amit Dhaka IAS, Girish Dayalan IAS MD Markfed and Rahul Gupta IAS AMD Markfed for arranging refreshments for the children.

On this occasion Baljinder Singh Toor General Secretary Gatka Federation of India, Jagkiran Kaur Waraich Joint Secretary, Davinder Singh Jugni Vice President Punjab Gatka Association, Arshad Dali, Prabhmeet Singh Media Incharge, Jagsir Singh Chandigarh, Jaswinder Singh Pabla, Jagdish Singh Kurali, Rajveer Singh, Apart from Raghubir Singh Dehlon, Harman Singh, a large number of dignitaries were present.
