Bureau Report: The Punjab government is going to make a new policy regarding drugs. This was disclosed by Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh. The government is considering decriminalizing drug use, but certain parameters will be fixed. The result of this will not be that the drug will be legalized but it will remain illegal. The purpose of this policy is that drug addicts and minor drug users will not be caught and thrown in jail but will be sent to a drug center.
The Health Minister clarified that the police will take strict action against those involved in drug smuggling. The health minister said that the problem of drugs has affected a large population of Punjab, development has stopped due to drugs. He said that our purpose is not to harass the victims but to catch the smugglers who are pushing the state under the foot of drugs. Earlier, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had also said that his government will look at the drug addicts with compassion while taking strict action against the smugglers. Chief Minister Mann said that if we want to get rid of the youth from drugs, then we have to understand their compulsion, we have to stand with them.
