Warangal: A second year medical student of MJM Hospital in Telangana’s Warangal has been arrested by the police after a first year medical student attempted suicide on February 22. Police Commissioner AV Ranganath said that we have implemented the SC/ST Act and the Anti-Ragging Act. Further investigation is on.
The Warangal Police Commissioner also informed that the victim is undergoing treatment in Hyderabad and her condition is critical. Social media and personal conversations between the two suggest that it is a case of ragging. Further investigation will continue after getting the toxicology report.

According to the information received, a first year student of Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal had attempted suicide on Wednesday due to repeated harassment at workplace by a senior. First-year student Dharavatha Preethi injected herself with a noxious substance in the staff room of MGM Hospital in Telangana’s Warangal, police said. Preeti was later found by other doctors, who immediately started her treatment, however, later shifted her to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad when her condition worsened.
Police said that the victim’s father has lodged a complaint with the police in this matter and has accused a senior student of torturing his daughter. The accused is a second year student in the anesthesia department of the medical college and is also a doctor. The victim’s father alleges that he used to make verbal abuses to humiliate and harass his daughter. She said that the accused had also made comments against her daughter on a social media platform and due to this she attempted suicide.
The woman doctor on duty at the government hospital was found unconscious by the hospital staff and doctors and was given first aid there, but was referred to NIMS as her condition turned critical. Police have expressed suspicion that the woman tried to commit suicide by taking some medicine.
