A lawyer on Monday moved the Delhi High Court seeking transit anticipatory bail in an FIR registered by the state police for allegedly giving false information claiming attacks on migrant laborers in Tamil Nadu. Police said that the FIR was lodged against Prashant Kumar Umrao, a lawyer by profession, whose official Twitter handle states that he is the spokesperson of the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party. An FIR has been registered against Umrao under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for inciting riots, promoting enmity and hatred, breach of peace and making inflammatory statements. The Thoothukudi Central Police Station in Tamil Nadu had registered an FIR.
