Delhi liquor scam accused and former Deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia has been given a big blow by the Supreme Court. The court has rejected the bail plea of ​​Manish Sisodia. A bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice SVN Bhatti rejected Sisodia’s bail plea and said that a money trail of Rs 336 crore has been proved in this case. The court has also directed to complete the hearing of this matter in 6 to 8 months.

The Supreme Court had reserved its decision on October 17 after completing the hearing on Manish Sisodia’s bail plea. At that time, Sisodia’s senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi had said in the court that the investigating agency has no evidence directly related to Sisodia in this whole episode.

The Supreme Court had on October 17 told the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that if the alleged bribe to change the Delhi Excise policy did not form part of the ‘proceeds of crime’, the federal agency against Sisodia Money laundering charges may be filed. This would be difficult to prove.

Sisodia has been in custody since February 26

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sisodia on February 26 for his alleged role in the excise policy ‘Ghale’. He has been in custody since then. The ED arrested Sisodia on March 9 in Tihar jail in a money laundering case based on a CBI FIR. Sisodia resigned from the Delhi Cabinet on February 28.

The High Court had on May 30 denied him bail in the CBI case, saying that as Deputy Chief Minister and Excise Minister he was an “influential” person and could influence witnesses. On July 3, the High Court had refused to grant him bail in the money laundering case saying that the charges against him were of a ‘very serious nature’.
