The ICC T20 World Cup is to be organized this year in the hosting of West Indies and USA. The International Cricket Council has released the schedule of this tournament. Fans have been waiting for this for a long time and on Friday, the wait is over. A total of 20 teams are participating in this tournament, which have been divided into 4 groups of 5 each. West Indies had organized the T20 World Cup in the year 2010 but after that it has become the host again. However this time it is joint host with USA. USA will host the Cricket World Cup match for the first time. The match between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place on June 9.
ICC has made four groups named A, B, C, D and each group has five teams. After the group stage, there will be Super-8 again. This will be followed by semi-finals and finals. The last T20 World Cup was played in Australia in which England defeated Pakistan in the final. The Indian team was eliminated after losing to England in the semi-finals. The first match will be between Uganda and USA on June 1. The final competition will be held on June 29.
What are the groups?
The Indian team has been placed in Group-A. Along with this team, the other four teams are Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and USA. While Group-B has England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland and Oman. Group C includes New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea. Group D includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal along with South Africa.
How is the schedule?
The group stage will start from June 1 and will last until June 18. This will be followed by the Super-8 stage which will last till June 24. The Indian team will play their match against Pakistan in New York on June 9. However, the Indian team will play its first match against Ireland on June 5. The Indian team will play USA on June 12 and Canada on June 15. India will play its first three matches in New York, while the team will play a match against Canada in Florida.
