It is being told that the police has got important information about the relationship between smuggler Gurdev Singh and Khaira. It is being told that Sukhpal Singh Khaira called the IG of Faridkot to the DIG of Ferozepur for the help of Gurdev Singh. This is the reason why the police want to recover Khaira’s phone. The police had obtained remand based on this in the previous appearance. It is being told that Khaira has a total of 3 phones.
Khaira were in contact with the sister
SIT has obtained the call details of Sukhpal Singh Khaira. In which it is clear that Sukhpal Singh Khaira used to talk to Gurdev Singh related to the drug case through a woman named Charanjit Kaur. Charanjit Kaur is the sister of drug smuggler Gurdev Singh who lives in London. Charanjit Kaur used to talk on Sukhpal Singh Khaira’s PA Joga Singh’s number. A day before her arrest in March 2015, Khaira spoke to Charanjit Kaur several times. Then Charanjit Kaur gave the message of Khaira to Gurdev Singh. Gurdev Singh was directly in touch with Imtiaz alias Kala for drug smuggling from Pakistan.
65 calls came in 11 days
The investigation has also revealed that there were 65 calls between Gurdev Singh, Charanjit Kaur and Sukhpal Singh Khaira within 11 days. Based on these evidences, the police have arrested Khaira.
Sukhpal Singh Khaira admitted that he spoke
Sukhpal Singh Khaira himself has confessed that he used to talk to Gurdev Singh. After his arrest, when his medical was done, he said that he was from my constituency. He was a good man but got caught in the wrong company. Khaira had said that when he was caught by the police, he clearly said not to talk to me. How can his name be found in smuggling on the basis of just one phone call. Khaira had said that the Supreme Court itself had raised questions on the day of the sentence regarding the inclusion of his name in drug smuggling.
Khaira was preparing to go abroad
Some other evidence related to Sukhpal Singh Khaira has also been found in SIT’s investigation. According to this, Sukhpal Singh Khaira had silently sought permission to go abroad for his treatment in the Mohali court. After which the court asked Sukhpal Singh Khaira for the details of the foreign doctor and the hospital. In this regard, the court had given 3 notices. The first date was 19 September 2023 in which there was an exemption to appear in person. But the next day, on the 20th, he was asked to attend. He was also invited on 25th September but Khaira did not attend.
