Earlier, the farmer was seriously injured while trying to stop the tractor. After getting injured, farmer Pritam Singh was admitted to a hospital in Patiala where he breathed his last. 16 farmers’ unions were on their way to join the protest in Chandigarh when the police tried to stop them, leading to a violent clash. On the other hand, both Akali Dal and Congress have made serious allegations against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal has termed the death of farmer Pritam Singh as a murder in broad daylight. He said that the farmers were going to demonstrate peacefully, but the farmers were beaten up in the Chief Minister’s constituency, due to which the farmers are shocked and saddened. A murder case should be registered against the Chief Minister, as it happened on his orders, the police officers who carried it out should be named. On the other hand, Congress has surrounded Sukhpal Singh Khaira.

‘You played politics with BJP’

Senior Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, while besieging the government on the death of a farmer in Sangrur, said ‘It is shameful that the government of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has badly lathi-charged the peacefully protesting farmers. You are playing games to oppress the farmers just like the BJP by taking over the power of Punjab.

Statement of farmer leaders

Farmer leader Tirth Singh said that the farmers were demonstrating peacefully at the Longowal police station. On the way to Chandigarh, the farmers were surrounded by the police. Where they were beaten up. In which Pritam Singh died while Gurjant Singh’s condition is also said to be critical.

An inspector was also injured

Punjab Police Inspector Dipinderpal Singh was also injured in the clash between the farmers and the police. He was admitted to Civil Hospital for treatment. The injured farmer leader Pritam Singh was referred from Indira Hospital to Patiala after which he died during treatment.
