The Shiromani Akali Dal staged a protest in Chandigarh against the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab. The Akalis under the leadership of Sukhbir Badal were trying to move towards the Chief Minister’s residence, but the police stopped them by setting up a barricade. Sukhbir Badal also brought two chairs with him, one of which had the name of Chief Minister Punjab written on it.
Sukhbir Badal said that a few days ago, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann challenged an open debate on November 1. Akali Dal itself has come to debate with him today. But CM Bhagwant Mann is not in Chandigarh today. He has gone to a party program in Madhya Pradesh.
Slogans of Bhaj gaya bai bhaj gaya echoed on the roads of Chandigarh with the police stopping senior @Akali_Dal_ leadership from approaching CM @BhagwantManns residence. Protest over SYL issue
The opposition of Shiromani Akali Dal to Aam Aadmi Party is over SYL water. The party says that even a single drop of Punjab’s water will not be given to any other state. The Aam Aadmi Party government is taking a dual approach in this. She is not representing the government properly in the court. Aam Aadmi Party is doing this to gain advantage in Haryana elections.
CM @BhagwantMann chose to flee Punjab rather than debate his betrayal on the #SYL canal with the @Akali_Dal_ today.
Now the police is stopping us from going to the CM residence. We will not stop till we secure justice for Punjabis. #DoDebateToday. pic.twitter.com/ZSudFlBJCT— Sukhbir Singh Badal (@officeofssbadal) October 10, 2023
Sukhbir Badal accepted the challenge
Accepting the challenge of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Sukhbir Badal said that November 1 is still far away. I am coming to your house on 10th October itself. If you have courage, come out and talk. There will be an open debate on every issue of Punjab in front of the media.
