The Supreme Court has expressed concern over the increasing pollution in the capital Delhi and its nearby areas. The Supreme Court has asked five states, including Delhi and Punjab, what steps they have taken to prevent air pollution. The Supreme Court said that despite the pollution, a large number of stubble is being burnt in Punjab. The court has directed Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan to file affidavits within a week. The chief secretaries of five states will have to file an affidavit within a week.

The problem of pollution comes up every year- SC

The Air Quality Management Authority filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court saying that necessary steps have been taken to prevent pollution, but the court was not satisfied with the authority’s report. The Supreme Court said that the problem of air pollution comes before us every year, but no change is seen in the air quality index. The amicus curiae in the court said that incidents of stubble burning have come to light in Punjab.

40 percent less straw sarees than before – Center

During the hearing, the central government said that we have taken many steps to prevent pollution, but today the condition of pollution is bad. The Center said that a report has been filed on the pollution situation, which describes the situation in the past three years and the current situation today. Factors of pollution are also mentioned. The Center said that there has been an increase in stubble burning incidents in the last two days, but it is 40 per cent less than last year.

Also, Patiala has an average AQI of 236 and a maximum of 310, Rupnagar has a maximum AQI of 228 and an average of 360 and Ludhiana has an average AQI of 216 and a maximum of 317. An AQI above 300 is placed on red alert.
