Punjabi singer Sidhu Musewala has objected to calling gangster Lawrence, who is in jail in the murder case, drug trafficking and many other cases, as a terrorist or a gangster. Lawrence has filed a petition in a special court in Gujarat seeking a direction to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to stop using the words terrorist or gangster in front of his name in documents without solid evidence.
Special Judge from NIA K.M. Sojitra’s court has sought a response on the petition. The next date of the case has been fixed on September 22. It is worth mentioning that in 2022, drugs were recovered from a boat on the Gujarat coast. After the Gujarat Police’s remand in this case ended, the court sent Lawrence to judicial custody.
Bishnoi’s lawyer Anand Brahmbhat said that the most valuable right as a citizen of India should not be taken away from anyone. He said that pass the necessary order regarding this appeal.
ATS took custody in April
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) recovered 39 kg of narcotics from a boat off the Gujarat coast in September 2022. In the same case, Lawrence was detained from a Punjab jail in April. It was told that this consignment of drugs was sent from Pakistan on the instructions of Lawrence.
The NIA later took over the case. The court had granted Lawrence’s remand from September 12 to 16. Which was later extended till 18 September. Finally now he has been sent to jail in judicial custody.
Allegation of false imprisonment
In the petition filed by Lawrence Bishnoi, Nakhud was declared innocent. Lawrence says that he has been in prison for almost 10 years. Meanwhile, he is being wrongly implicated in various cases by many investigating agencies. Rights as an accused before any relevant court have not been respected and I have been labeled a gangster and now recently I have been labeled a terrorist.
