Bureau Report: 89 villages in 7 districts of Punjab are badly affected by the flood. These conditions have arisen due to the release of water from Bhakra and Pong Dam. Meanwhile, the news is coming that Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, who was helping his constituents in Anandpur Sahib, was bitten by a poisonous snake, due to which he was admitted to the hospital. He had swelling in his foot after which all the tests have been done and now his condition is said to be fine. Bains himself has shared this information.

The areas most affected by the flood are Ropar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Gurdaspur. So far many people have died due to drowning in the river during the flood. After which bathing in rivers and canals has been completely banned in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. Government and private schools have been closed till August 23 in flood-affected areas in Fazilka, while schools will remain closed till August 26 in Ferozepur.

In the meantime, the NDRF team engaged in rescue operation has safely pulled out Gurbhjej Singh of Rukne village of Ferozepur from the flood. Gurbhaje was hanging from a white tree. When the team saw Duro, he was taken out by means of a boat. Gurbhaj Singh said that he was returning back after leaving his children, when suddenly the water level reached his throat, he grabbed the tree and hung on the tree for two and a half hours.

After water was released from Harike Heads in Tarn Taran, now the effect of flood has started to be seen in Ferozepur as well. 15 villages have been cut off from the country due to the collapse of a bridge here. The BSF post on the border has also been submerged. 24 jawans have been evacuated from there.

Due to the collapse of the bridge in Ferozepur, 15 border villages lost contact with the country. This is the second time the bridge has been affected this year. On the other hand, the people of the village are hardly able to move from one place to another. Meanwhile, a video has also come out in which an 8-month-old pregnant woman was stepping forward on the wall of the bridge with the help of a thin rope.

130 villages affected 44 thousand people

More than 22,455 people of 89 villages are affected by the flood. Till yesterday, about 44,000 people were affected in 130 villages. Talking about the phase 1 of the flood, so far more than 60 thousand people of 219 villages have been affected by the flood in the state.
