Guava Tree Compensation Scam: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested another accused in the case of fraud in the compensation amount of guava plantations illegally at Bakarpur village of SAS Nagar (Mohali) district during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state.

Giving information in this regard, the official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the arrested person has been identified as Advocate Rohit Sharma, who retired in February 2020 as PCS. The officer is the son of Shiv Kumar who was posted as LAC, Gamada during the year 2015-16.

The spokesperson further said that Bharti, the wife of the accused Rohit, has taken a compensation of around 80 lakh rupees in return for cultivating guava on 4 kanals of land at village Bakarpur, which is completely wrong. He bought this land in the year 2017.

The Vigilance Bureau produced him before the Duty Magistrate, Mohali, and the court remanded him to four-day police custody. It is to be noted that in this multi-crore scam, vigilance has so far arrested a total of 16 accused and the investigation of the matter is ongoing.
