Sheikh Hasina won her seat with a record vote, stepping towards becoming the PM of Bangladesh once again

In the Bangladesh Lok Sabha elections, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has won the Gopalganj-3 (Tungipara-Kotlipara) seat with a record number of votes. According to the unofficial results, he got 2,49,962 votes. His closest rival National People's Party (NPP) candidate Sheikh Abul Kalam got 460 votes. Another candidate from this center, Mehboor Mulla, secured 425 votes and came third. He is the candidate of the If party. There are 2,90,300 voters in the parliamentary seat. Out of them 1,48,691 are male and 1,41,608 are female.

Sheikh Hasina stood as a candidate for Gopalganj-3 seat of Gopalganj district under Dhaka administrative division. Gopalganj is the birthplace of Hasina. Hasina has been contesting from this center since 1991. He won every time. However, the votes received this time have broken the record of the previous six times.

According to media reports, “Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been personally elected from Gopalganj-3 (Tungipara-Kotlipara) constituency.”

Voting took place at 229 centers today

Elections for the 12th National Assembly of Bangladesh were held on Sunday. The voting process started from 8 am in different parts of the country. It ended at 4 pm. Voting was to be held on a total of 300 seats but one candidate died. Due to this the voting of Naugaon-2 center was cancelled. Due to this, voting took place at 299 centers on Sunday.

Counting work started in the evening after voting ended. At around 8:30 PM, the Bangladesh media personally reported Hasina's victory. According to media reports, Sheikh Hasina has won her center with a huge margin. The difference between him and the second highest number of votes is 2 lakh 49 thousand 502.

Opposition parties including BNP boycotted

28 political parties participated in the elections to the 12th National Parliament of Bangladesh. Total number of candidates is 1969. The total number of voters is 11 crore 96 lakh 89 thousand 289 people.

There have been several incidents of violence before the elections in Bangladesh. Opposition camps like BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Left Alliance have announced not to participate in any election under the supervision of the Hasina government. They boycotted the elections and went on a 48-hour strike. Due to this, the vote percentage during elections is very low.
