Bureau Report: District President of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee Jagdish Mansa has been arrested on charges of blackmailing in Fazilka. The farmer leader grabbed 2.60 lakhs in the name of compensation for the death of the worker. The police produced the accused in the court on Friday and sent him to jail.
The worker drank the spray due to a domestic dispute
SHO Chandrasekhar said that a complaint was lodged against Jagdish Mansa by Harnek Singh who hails from Odia. In which he told that some time ago Vir Singh used to work in the field near him. He had taken the spray due to a domestic dispute. Meanwhile, he received a call that Veer Singh has fallen on the road. After which he has been admitted to Gupta Hospital in Fazilka for treatment.
Farmer leaders went to the hospital and started threatening
During the treatment, Jagdish Singh of village Mansa came to him with one of his companions and started blackmailing him that action would be taken against him. He said that he had no hand behind Veer Singh’s drinking the spray, nor was there any dispute. After which Jagdish started threatening to see her.
Threats started after the death of the worker
Veer Singh died during the treatment and Jagdish gathered some people and staged a dharna against him. Due to which the police registered a case against him. After this, Jagdish again came to him and started demanding forgiveness for the deceased’s family to settle the matter.
Two and a half lakhs were taken to settle the matter
Harnek Singh said that he did not want to get involved in any case, that’s why he agreed to give money to the deceased family out of sympathy. Jagdish took two and a half lakhs in the name of his family. After some time the family of the deceased came to meet him and started demanding compensation, then he told that he had given 2 lakh 60 thousand to Jagdish.
The family said that the farmer leader did not give us anything
The family of the deceased said that Jagdish did not give them money. SHO Chandrasekhar said that following the complaint made to SSP Fajilaka, after investigating the matter, Jagdish Mansa has been arrested and booked under section 384, 420, 406, 506.
