Punjab Police raided the locations of Lawrence and Goldie Brar’s associates

The Punjab Police on Friday conducted a special cordon and search operation (CASO) at the suspected locations of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Canada-based Goldie Brar. Simultaneous raids were conducted on residential and other places associated with both the criminals in all the districts across the state. The purpose of this operation was to destroy the nexus of gangsters and drug traffickers located in India and abroad.

Giving information in this regard, Director General (DGP) of Punjab Police Gaurav Yadav said that 1490 anti-social elements associated with Bishnoi and Goldie Brar were arrested during this operation conducted by 200 parties of around 2000 policemen of Punjab Police. More than 100 suspected locations were raided.

He said that this search and raid operation (CASO) was planned after the interrogation of several persons during the recent unearthing of modules supporting Bishnoi and Goldie Brar. Apart from this, the purpose of the said exercise is to create fear among the anti-social elements and create a sense of security among the common people.

Elaborating on the cordon and search operation (CASO), Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that several persons have been detained pending further investigation and they Criminal material has been seized from him, which is being further investigated. He further said that during this operation, the police teams thoroughly searched the houses and other places belonging to these criminals and also collected data from electronic devices, which will be sent for forensic investigation.

He said that the police teams also checked the arms licenses and people were questioned about the sourcing of arms. Apart from this, travel details of family members living abroad, bank transactions from abroad and Western Union and property details have been collected for further investigation.

It may be mentioned that since March 2022, Punjab Police has recovered 30 modern rifles, 200 revolvers/pistols and 24 drones, arrested 160 terrorists/extremists and exposed 25 terrorist modules. As far as gangsters are concerned, Punjab Police has succeeded in arresting 555 gangsters/criminals and busting 140 gangster modules by neutralizing two. 510 weapons and 129 vehicles used in criminal activities have been recovered from the said accused.
