Chandigarh: The program of handing over the proformas filled by the people to the governor of Punjab under the signature campaign launched by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee regarding the release of Bandi Singhs has been postponed for the time being. More than 25 lakh proformas filled by the Shiromani Committee for the release of Bandi Singhs were to be handed over to the Governor of Punjab on April 27, but it has been postponed due to the death of Shiromani Akali Patron Parkash Singh Badal.

OSD of Shiromani Committee President Satbir Singh Dhami said that according to the time received from the Governor of Punjab, the preparations for handing over the proforma demanding the release of Bandi Singhs were complete on April 27, but due to the passing away of Parkash Singh Badal, this work has now been rescheduled. will be done on He said that according to the instructions of the President of the SGPC, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, information has been officially sent by the SGPC to the Governor of Punjab in this regard. Along with this, the governor has also demanded an alternative time in the next few days.

This signature campaign was started by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee for the release of Bandi Singhs who have completed their sentences in various jails of the country.

The Sikh community has repeatedly demanded the release of Sikh political prisoners in Indian jails who have not yet been released despite completing their sentences. They have been in jail for many years and many have completed their sentences. Many of them never even got parole. For the release of captive Sikhs, many times Sikh leaders have fasted to death and protest marches have also been held. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee also put up posters about captive Sikhs outside the gurdwaras of the committee.
