A sensation spread in the town of Adampur in Jalandhar when the bodies of 5 people from the same family were found. The deceased include Manmohan Singh (55), a resident of Adampur village Droli Khurd, his wife Sarabjit Kaur, elder daughter Prabhjot Kaur alias Jyoti (32), younger daughter Gurpreet Kaur alias Gopi (31) and Jyoti's daughter Aman (3). ) are included. Deceased Manmohan Singh worked as a post master in the post office at Adampur. All of them reportedly had strangulation marks on their necks. In which Manmohan had a hanging mark around his neck. However, there were marks on the other bodies as well. Due to which it was believed that all have been strangled to death. Because Manmohan's wife, both daughters and Dohti had U-shaped marks on their necks.
The incident was reported to the police control room at around 9 pm by the villagers. After which the PCR team of the area reached the spot first. Immediately after the incident was confirmed, DSP Vijay Kunwar Pratap of Adampur area, SHO of Adampur police station Manjit Singh and CIA staff rural police reached the spot with their two teams for investigation. The neighbor present at the spot told the police that no member of the entire family was seen outside the house since Saturday night.
Manmohan's son-in-law Sarabjit Singh came to know about the whole incident when he reached his house on Friday. The son-in-law said – about four years ago, he was married to Prabhjot Kaur, a resident of Droli Khurd. Prabhjot had come to his maternal grandmother's house on Friday and was supposed to return home on Sunday i.e. today. But Sarabjit was calling Prabhjot Kaur since morning. But Prabhjot Kaur did not pick up his phone even once. Due to which Sarabjit reached his in-laws house on Sunday night.
Sarabjit Singh told the police that he had reached his in-laws house around 8.30 pm. When the door did not open for a long time, he somehow broke the door and entered. Going inside, he saw father-in-law Manmohan Singh hanging from the fan and the rest of the family members lying unconscious on the bed below. The news of everyone's death spread like wildfire in the entire village.
According to information, Sarabjit Singh, his wife Prabhjot Kaur, daughter Aman and Gurpreet Kaur alias Gopi were to go to Canada after a few days. While Sarabjit Singh had to settle in Canada with his family. The information of the entire incident has been given to the deceased Manmohan's son Charanpreet Singh in Australia. According to information, Charanpreet went to Australia about two years ago. Now he is a citizen of Australia there. Charanjit will return to India soon. After which the police will also record his statement.
In the suicide note found by the police, Manmohan has stated the reason of his death mainly due to debt. In the suicide note, Manmohan has written that he took a loan and opened a chicken shop, but it flopped. After which he took a loan and started shooting for the film. But that too flopped. After which he somehow took a loan and sent his son abroad. All together had accumulated a lot of debt.
Manmohan has written in his suicide note that no family member should be disturbed after his death. Manmohan had a debt of more than 30 lakh rupees. Along with this, none of the family members were aware of the loan taken by Manmohan.
Some people told the police that there were frequent disputes in the house over the loan. SHO Manjit Singh said that the recovered suicide note was only one page long. The police have taken possession of the suicide note found at the scene. Which has also been sent for forensics.
Today the said suicide note will also be examined by a writing expert. This will be an important part of the investigation. Along with this, the police has sent the body for post-mortem. How the five died will be known after the post-mortem report. The incident site was sealed by the Adampur police till late night. The police are also checking the CCTV installed in the village.
