SC has stayed the removal of DGP of Himachal

The Supreme Court has stayed the order to remove Himachal Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjay Kundu. The SC asked the High Court that Sanjay Kundu should also be given an opportunity to present his case in court. The hearing of this case is to be held tomorrow in the Himachal High Court. 3 days ago, Sanjay Kundu had challenged the order of Himachal High Court in SC.

The High Court had ordered the removal of DGP Sanjay Kundu and Kangra SP Shalini Agnihotri on December 26, 2023, in the case of threatening Nishant. The government had issued orders to remove Sanjay Kundu from the post a day ago i.e. on Tuesday.

While the SP of Kangra has not received any order yet. A bench of Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice Jyotsana Rewal Dua directed the Himachal Secretary (Home) to remove the two officers from their posts for an impartial inquiry into the matter.

Nishant Sharma, a businessman originally from Kangra, filed a complaint with the Kangra police on October 28 and made serious allegations against DGP Sanjay Kundu besides threatening some people, but the police did not register an FIR. had done

Meanwhile, the High Court has taken notice of the email sent by Nishant Sharma. Then after 21 days, Kangra police, acting on Nishant Sharma's complaint, filed an FIR against 2 unidentified people in McLeodganj police station.

Since this is a high profile case, the High Court itself is monitoring the case. On December 20, during the hearing of this matter, the High Court had made a very strong comment and asked the government whether it would take any action in this matter or the court itself should issue an order. The Himachal High Court, in its interim order regarding the removal of the two officers, said that DGP Sanjay Kundu called Nishant Sharma repeatedly.
