Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the accused SDO. has been arrested on the complaint of Darshan Singh resident of Patti District Tarn Taran.

He said that the complainant has filed a complaint at Police Station Vigilance Bureau Amritsar Range that the Punjab Mandi Board has awarded the construction of link roads in Tarn Taran district to Darshan Singh’s firm LT. Alloted to builders. The said S.D.O. had demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant in lieu of returning the firm’s bail amount of Rs 34,33,002 and he has already received a bribe of Rs 20,000.

The spokesperson said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the said SDO FIR No. 09 dated 06-03-2023 under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Amritsar Range and the team of Vigilance Bureau has arrested him. He further informed that further investigation of this matter is going on.
