Red alert issued for fog and cold wave in Punjab and Haryana

A red alert has been issued for fog and cold wave in Punjab and Haryana. School timings have been changed in Himachal's Una due to extreme cold. Now schools will open from 10 am to 3 pm. This order will remain in force till 31 January 2024. A warning has been issued in Chandigarh about dense fog in the morning. While the weather will remain bad in 15 districts of Punjab.

Fog red alert has been issued in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Nawanshahr, Jalandhar, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala. There is orange alert in the rest of the districts. There is a possibility of dense fog and extreme cold in the entire state since morning. The temperature in Chandigarh city is expected to be between 4 to 14 degrees.

The chance of the sun shining is less due to increasing fog. A red alert has been issued today due to fog in Amritsar. The temperature is likely to be between 5 to 13 degrees. There is very little chance of sunshine. Jalandhar will not see much change in temperature.
