Raids on 2247 locations associated with drug traffickers in the state

Punjab Police’s Operation Clean: As per the guidelines of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, intensifying the ongoing campaign to make Punjab a drug-free state, the Punjab Police has launched a state-level campaign ‘OPS Clean’ to monitor the activities of persons involved in drug trafficking. . This campaign has been conducted on the instructions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.

Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that during this operation conducted from 7 am to 12 noon, raids were conducted on places/houses associated with drug traffickers. He said that all the CPs/SSPs were asked to personally supervise the operation and to form adequate number of police teams under the supervision of gazetted rank officers so that raids could be carried out at different locations simultaneously.

Let us tell you that during this operation, 650 police teams involving more than 5500 police personnel raided 2247 places related to drug traffickers and 2125 houses were searched.

The Special DGP said that the police teams recovered 1.8 kg heroin, 82 kg poppy, 1 kg opium, drug money worth Rs 5.35 lakh and four weapons, besides illicit liquor, lahan (raw material used for making liquor) and vehicle. and 48 FIRs have been registered in this regard. Police teams have also seized 78 mobile phones, which will be sent for forensic examination.

He said that during the operation, the houses of the persons involved in drug trafficking were thoroughly searched and the teams also questioned such persons about their current business. He said that the police teams also checked the bank details of the smugglers and their family members present in the house and transactions from abroad.

Special DGP said that the purpose of carrying out this operation is to keep a strict vigil on drug smugglers besides keeping a check on the arrival of drugs from inter-state borders. He said that such raids will continue.
