Chandigarh: An unfortunate news has come from Sukhmani Dental College located on Ambala National Highway where a student has committed suicide. According to information, a BDS student of Sukhmani Dental College has committed suicide by hanging. The police have taken possession of the body and started investigating the matter. The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Simran resident of village Kukrana, district Panipat (Haryana).
Simran lived in the college hostel. ASI Kuldeep Singh, who is investigating the case, said that at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, he got information that the said student had committed suicide in her room. When we went to the spot, we saw that his body was hanging from the fan of the room and the latch was closed from inside. He was hanged with a pick. The body has been taken down and kept in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital and an investigation into the matter has been started.
He said that in a copy found in the room of the deceased, she has written a suicide note that she is mentally disturbed due to studies, due to which she is taking this step. The younger brother of the deceased is also doing BDS in the same college. The police said that further action will be taken after the arrival of the family members of the deceased.
On the other hand, a similar case has come to light from Thapar University Patiala where a student hanged himself in the hostel. The student was pursuing a chemical engineering course at the university. The deceased has been identified as Himesh Yadav, a resident of Kota (Rajasthan).
According to the information, the student has taken this step because the exam was not good. ASI Manjit Singh of Police Station Civil Lines said that according to the family members of the deceased, he used to come first in studies every year. Before committing suicide, he had called his parents and told them that he did not do well in the exam on May 12. The police said that the post-mortem of the deceased was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members.
