Manpreet Singh, captain of the Indian men’s hockey team who made history at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, has been awarded the Khel Ratna by the President. Under his leadership, the team won a bronze medal in the Olympics after 41 years. On Saturday, President Ram Nath Kovind presented him with the ‘Major Dhyan Chand Award’.
Manpreet Singh hails from Jalandhar district of Punjab. Earlier, he was nominated for the Arjuna Award. However, he was later selected for the Khel Ratna, the highest honor of the game.
