The news of a young Punjabi woman being murdered abroad has come to light. A girl from Gurdaspur was stabbed to death by her husband in London. The deceased has been identified as Mahik Sharma (19) resident of village Jogi Cheema. Mahik’s mother Madhubala said that he is a widow.
His daughter Mehek Sharma was married on 24 June 2022 to Sahil Sharma son of Lalit Kumar resident of New Sant Nagar Gurdaspur. His daughter has studied till 12th. On 20 November 2022, she went to London on a study visa.
A few months later, her husband Sahil Sharma moved to London with her on a spousal visa. Mahik Sharma had transferred his studies to a skilled worker work permit. She was currently working as a caretaker at Fabulous Home Care Ltd. Madhubala alleged that Sahil started harassing her after she moved to London. He was suspicious of her daughter and had threatened to kill her several times.
She was constantly calling her daughter but was not getting in touch with her. After this, he received a call from London that his daughter has been stabbed to death. The London police have arrested a 23-year-old man in this case.
Madhubala told that this murder was done by her son-in-law Sahil Sharma. In this regard, they have requested the district administration to make arrangements to bring the dead body of their daughter to India. In this regard, SSP Batala Ashwani Gotyal has assured to help the family in all possible ways.
