Panjab University Student Union elections will be held on September 6. Department of Student Welfare (DSW) Jitendra Grover has announced this. The Election Code has come into force in Punjab University with immediate effect. Nomination will be done on August 31 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. After that at 12 noon the list of candidates will be released on the notice board. Nominations can be withdrawn up to 12 noon on September 1.

After that the final list of all the candidates will be released at 2:30 pm. Counting of votes will start after 12 noon on 6th. No print material is allowed during elections.

SSP Chandigarh Kanvardeep Kaur has assured to make adequate security arrangements during the election process. Whatever police force they require will be deployed in the university and all the colleges.

66 thousand students will participate
Currently there are around 16 thousand students in Punjab University. Along with this, 50 thousand students are studying in different 11 colleges of the city. This time around 66 thousand students will participate in this election. There can be competition between about 7 persons for the post of principal within the university. At present NSUI of Congress, ABVP of BJP, SOI of Akali Dal and CYSS of Aam Aadmi Party are active within the university. Apart from this, SFS, INSO, SOPU, PUSU, PSU Lalkar, HPSU are also in the fray.

Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann gave a grant for Punjab University
Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann had released a grant for Punjab University. He released a grant of Rs 25.91 lakh for boys’ hostel and Rs 23 lakh for girls’ hostel in the university. According to the information, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had come to the University recently. He announced the release of this grant here.

Amount released for girls-boys hostel
Girls’ Hostel No. 11 in Panjab University is built up to the first floor. It is to be extended to 6 floors. 23 crores were released for this. And Boys’ Hostel No. 9 is to be newly constructed. For this, Rs 25.91 crore was also released by the Chief Minister.
