Punjab Police action, raids on the locations of Lakhbir Landa’s associates

Taking another step in the campaign to make Punjab a crime-free state by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Police on Sunday arrested terrorist Lakhbir Singh a.k.a. Launched a special cordon and search operation (CASO) at the locations of suspects linked to Landa.

The raid was conducted simultaneously from 6 am to 10 am on the instructions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, during which around 297 nearby Lakhbir Landa in 28 police districts of the state were raided. All residences and other places associated with accomplices were thoroughly searched.

Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that all the CPs/SSPs were instructed to deploy strong police parties headed by inspector or sub-inspector to make this operation a success. He said that the police teams were also asked to arrest the suspects during the operation.

He said that 150 parties of Punjab Police, which included at least 1200 police personnel, conducted these raids across the state. He added that the CASO was planned after questioning several persons in the recently captured modules supported by Lakhbir Landa.

The Special DGP said that several persons have been detained for further investigation and incriminating materials have been seized from their possession, who are being further interrogated. He said that during this operation, the police teams thoroughly searched the houses and other places associated with these criminals and also collected data from electronic devices, which will be sent for forensic investigation.

Police teams have also checked arms licenses and questioned people about the sourcing of arms, besides travel details of family members living abroad, bank transactions from abroad and Western Union and property, he said. Details have been collected.
