Punjab government showed seriousness for the solution of straw

The Punjab government is looking very serious for the solution of straw. The government is now to provide machinery to the farmers on a large scale at subsidy for the solution of straw. The Punjab government wants that the stubble should not be set on fire in the fields but should be disposed of in the fields itself. The Punjab government is also going to release subsidy on the purchase of machinery under the CRM scheme. Surface seeders will also be provided to the farmers.

Punjab government will provide 3945 surface seeder subsidy to farmers. Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Hasan Singh said that the government will provide district-wise surface seeders and other machinery to the farmers on subsidy. He appealed to the farmers that those farmers who want to buy surface seeder on subsidy can apply on the online portal by 10 September 2023. While the department has 3945 surface seeder machines in the state, out of which the maximum 341 are to be given to Tarn Taran district.

The Chief Agriculture Officer said that a subsidy of Rs 40,000 is to be given to the farmers and Rs 64,000 to the customer hiring center on the purchase of surface seeder. The state government is trying to prevent burning of crop residues and save the environment. It may be mentioned that Punjab Agriculture Minister Jathedar Gurmeet Singh Khuddi is working hard for the welfare of farmers. He has appealed to the farmers to take advantage of the subsidized machines.

Advantages of surface seeder

– With the help of this machine, wheat can be sown without burning the stubble.

– A surface seeder simultaneously applies seed and fertilizer to a paddy field harvested by a combine. Apart from this, it gnaws the standing paddy and mixes it evenly in the fields.

– Harvested stubble covers the seeds, which later acts as a mulch, due to which the soil temperature is also favorable.

– After about a week, the wheat starts emerging from the straw.

– The wheat sown with this technique falls less and due to the stubble remaining in the field, the health of the land also improves and fertilizer is saved.

– The surface seeder can run with a 45 horsepower tractor and can sow 1.5 acres of wheat in an hour.
