Punjab government preparing to buy Goindwal thermal plant, uninterrupted power supply to farmers during paddy season

Punjab Paddy Season: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the state government will ensure uninterrupted power supply to farmers for paddy cultivation. He said that the state government has already made adequate arrangements in this regard and there is no shortage of electricity in the state. Bhagwant Mann said that the state already has 52 days of coal reserves, so farmers will be supplied with uninterrupted power.

He said that for the first time in the history of the state, the Punjab government will bid for the purchase of the Goindwal Thermal Power Plant. He said that this is unique and for the first time that the state government will buy a private plant. Bhagwant Mann said that the state has sufficient supply of coal through which this plant can be operated efficiently.

Appeal for maximum utilization of canal water

The Chief Minister also said that the three departments in the state are being integrated to ensure maximum utilization of canal water. He said that currently only 30 percent of canal water is being used for irrigation, but with this decision, 70 percent of canal water will be used for irrigation by next year. The Chief Minister said that this would help in arresting the depleting ground water in the state.

He said that it is the main need of the hour to ensure good governance for the people while doing their daily tasks easily. Bhagwant Mann said that this will help in improving the functioning of the offices along with being aware of the ground realities.
